MUSI 255 - Follow the Lieder

0.5 unit(s)
In the early 19th century Beethoven and Schubert established Vienna as the seat of German song.  Brahms, Wolf, and Strauss carried the form forward into the modern era.  This six-week course examines the intimate marriage of German poetry and music during the romantic period when the Austrian empire went from being the largest power in Europe to a sentimental land on Europe’s eastern front.  This course offers performance opportunities for singers and pianists as well as non-performance related projects.
