WFQS 303 - Senior Capstone: Interdisciplinary Research Methods and Writing Seminar

Semester Offered: Fall and Spring
0.5 unit(s)
This course is a two semester (.5 units per semester) course required of all seniors completing a capstone thesis in WFQS.  Meeting weekly, students choose and begin to develop a senior thesis project as we review best practices for sound interdisciplinary research. Over the course of the academic year, as appropriate to their project, students learn to frame original research questions, develop plans for identifying the parameters of sound inquiry and argument, gather and synthesize sources in the form of annotated bibliographies and literature reviews, and act as sounding boards and constructive critics of each other’s work in progress. This process might result in a traditional scholarly essay, or a project that includes community-engaged learning, performance, or other forms of creative expression.
