RELI 182 - Global Christianities Semester Offered: Spring 1 unit(s) This course explores what unites and divides contemporary Christian communities around the world by focusing on the concrete ways in which Christians experience divine power, construct meaning out of the vicissitudes of life, and embody holiness. We attend to the diversity of Christian experiences and practices through the use of ethnographic sources devoted to communities in Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and Oceania. The course is divided into three themes: one dedicated to communal and personal relationships with God, a second focusing on the varieties of Christian ritual, and finally a third focusing on Christian ethics and moral formation. Klaus Yoder.
Two 75-minute periods.
