This six-week course gives us the opportunity to listen to and study three 19th-century operas that deal with the problem of love, honor, and divided allegiances between the individual and the nation, or the individual and society.  The three operas we study will be: Carmen (Bizet, in French), Aida (Verdi, in Italian), and Eugene Onegin (Tchaikovsky, in Russian).  We study all the librettos in English translation. Michael Pisani.
