Semester Offered: Spring
1 unit(s)
(Same as MUSI 259 ) This course investigates a series of questions about the relationship between music and the individuals and societies that perform and listen to it. The course takes an interdisciplinary approach to the social life of music, addressing historical themes and debates within multiple academic fields via readings, recordings, and films. Justin Patch.

Recommended: but not required that students have one unit of the following: Music, Anthropology, Sociology, or Media Studies.
